2019-Present

Etches From Home is a series of collages using digital sketches to extend the frames of my family photographs. Inspired by Larry Sultan’s Pictures From Home, I play in the fantastical space of memory, reverence, and bliss. These photographs carry a charged nostalgia; they depict an idyllic world of familial unity that I would imagine and flee to while contending with my parent’s separation and later mourning my father’s life. Returning to this project after seven years, I feel better equipped to notice the dynamic compositions, tender interactions, and world of whimsy I grew up in. Etches of Home is a playful way to recontextualize the past and honor my parents’ teachings through their artistic care and practice.
