Family Sketches is a project about memories and imagination. I wanted to mark the passage of time, reconstruct the space cropped from the photo frame, and pay homage to the photographers who came before me and helped me to see and remember. Drawing to extend the frame was a way to feel like an active participant in constructing and preserving my family’s archive.
